“Are you ready for a party? Here’s Flogging Molly!” That was all the introduction Giel Beelen needed for them at Pinkpop 2014, and nothing more was necessary. For the past 25 years, this Irish-American folk-punk band has been delivering top-notch concerts filled with folk anthems in a punk style—Drunken Lullabies at full speed, with the party vibes amped up by banjo, mandolin, fiddle, and bagpipes. The recent album Anthem proves that the band’s fire is far from dying out. Frontman Dave King might stick to a Guinness Light these days, but we’ll be dancing!
