Sometimes early success can get in the way of an artist, as Tom Odell knows only too well. As a new performer, he had a huge hit in 2012 with his first single Another Love, and picked up a prestigious Brit Award a year later. Critics cast doubt on his genuineness though; a sentiment that slowly began to gnaw away at the young singer-songwriter. By his last album Monsters (2021), Odell had switched tack, and wasn’t afraid to let his freak flag fly a bit higher. Now the 32-year-old is like a reborn musician, who likes to get experimental with beats and synths, and whose lyrics have become increasingly personal in nature. With a number of ballads in tow as well, Odell is set to celebrate his artistic liberation at Pinkpop. It’ll be a party that you won’t want to miss – whether you’re a serious fan or just a curious newcomer.
