Whatever else, rapper Zwangere Guy (Pregnant Guy) has a stage name that certainly stands out. He was born as Gorik van Oudheusden, and his first crib was in Belgium. After he left school at the age of fourteen, he took on all kinds of jobs, but also found his vocation as a rapper. Starting initially with the band Stikstof (meaning ‘Nitrogen’), but now operating as a solo act for some time, he’s been wowing the whole of Belgium and the Netherlands flat with his spot-on, critical lyrics, with a healthy dose of humour thrown in. His first mix-tape was brilliantly named Zwangerschapsverlof Vol.3 (‘Maternity Leave Vol.3’), and his debut album Wie Is Guy? (‘Who Is Guy?’) immediately climbed to No. 1 in 2019. Last year, he put out Pourriture Noble (‘Noble Rotting’), which refers to the chemical process involved in winemaking. After Rock Werchter, Lowlands and Down The Rabbit Hole, it’s now Pinkpop’s turn to get acquainted with this Flemish fellow.
