We used to know Caroline van der Leeuw from her time in the collective known as Caro Emerald and their smooth jazzy tunes, but with her new project, she’s taking a wholly different approach. Gone are the retro dresses and flowers in the hair: with The Jordan, she’s now creating esoteric trip-hop with Portishead overtones, which might seem like a bit of a departure, but the sheer versatility of her voice lends itself to just about anything! At the time of the pandemic, Caroline decided to put an end to the Caro Emerald collective and to follow her own musical instincts and do something different. After songs such as You Don’t Even Know Me, Naked In The Sun and Best Damn Day, The Jordan’s debut album Nowhere Near The Sky is scheduled for release in February. We can’t wait for her new songs to reverberate across the grounds at Pinkpop.
