Those who have never seen The Hu live might be surprised to see a Mongolian band on the bill at Pinkpop, but anyone who’s ever witnessed the eight-piece formation on stage understands exactly why their ‘hunnu rock’ shouldn’t be missing from the line-up. The Hu mixes characteristic Mongolian throat singing – playing on traditional instruments such as Tumur Khuur, Morin Khuur and Tovshuur – with hard-hitting metal, resulting in a unique sound from two contrasting worlds. The band appeared in the spotlight from out of nowhere when their songs Yuve Yu and Wolf Totem went viral, paving the way for appearances at large-scale venues abroad. Recently, their second album Rumble Of Thunder was released, so the group have some new work to unleash on Megaland, alongside the more familiar belters.
