I Prevail

In 2020, the American metalcore band I Prevail were due to come to the Netherlands for the first time ever to do a few live shows. The pandemic threw a spanner in the works, but this year the five – being true to their band name – prevailed, and are now looking to make up for lost festival time. The Michigan formation jumped out of anonymity eight years ago through a bold and highly successful cover of Taylor Swift’s Blanc Space. After the acclaimed debut album Lifelines (2016), lead singer Brian Burkheiser struggled with voice issues for a while, as well as depression, after which the songs on Trauma (2019) and True Power (2022) turned out even more layered and intense. After three studio albums, I Prevail is one of the pioneers of the thriving post-hardcore scene, and the songs that came from their creative and emotional odyssey will no doubt light up Pinkpop.
