Last year, Kalush Orchestra from war-torn Ukraine won the Eurovision Song Contest in Italy with their song Stefania. A year before that however, there was also a standout act from that country taking part in the contest’s edition in Rotterdam at the time, namely the electro-folk pop formation Go_A. Their entry, the stirring track Shum, which is patiently built up by the band’s frontwoman Kateryna Pavlenko, and roars over the rails towards the final note like a speeding train after the break, finished in a commendable fifth place. More importantly though, it turned out to be the ticket to a career beyond their country’s borders, as the foursome have played a number of European festivals, with Shum ending up at number one in the Spotify Viral Worldwide list. Go_A are set to arrive at Landgraaf with all the energy and mystic momentum of that same thundering train, which no doubt you too will soon be raring to board.
