A chance encounter during a show in Brussels brought them together, but now producer Willem Ardui and rapper Jay Atohoun are musical brothers with a mission: as blackwave., delivering their flavoursome groove of nineties hip-hop, R&B, soul and funk to a new generation. The Antwerp duo kicked off their successful streak in 2018 with the megahit Elusive with David Ngyah, and then the following year with their aptly titled debut album ARE WE STILL DREAMING?, which confirmed their status. It’s therefore no surprise that the ambition of the Flemish pair took them to Los Angeles, the city where dreams often come true. It was hard going, but eventually their suitably named second album No Sleep In LA (2022) was hatched in the City of Angels, which was additional proof of the sheer drive and creative growth of these hip-hop fusion ambassadors.
