The Rotterdam artist ADF Samski fuses contemporary hip-hop with languid old skool beats and samples, such as those that dominated the 90s rap and R&B on the west coast of the US. He discovered this musical preference as a child through his mother, who was a full-on fan of the music and played it non-stop. Samir Plasschaert, Ronnie Flex’s half-brother, broke through in 2019 with the hit No Hook, and the following year he planted himself firmly on the map with his debut album Fresh Prince Van Noord, which was streamed 10 million times within a single day. ADF (which stands for ‘Alleen De Familie’, meaning ‘family only’) Samski has already worked with major league boys such as Sevn Alias, Jack $hirak and Hef and – especially now that his second album Cartier Music (2022) is out – he has an impressive array of hits with which to blow the Pinkpop audience away for the first time.
